Stress Reduction technique

The stress reduction technique that I have tried in the past is called Transcendental Meditation (TM) founded by a man named Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1950's. TM is simple,  effortless mental practice for 15-20 minutes twice a day while sitting in a chair quietly and comfortably with the eyes closed. TM exercises the critical prefrontal cortex of the brain-to make the brain healthier, more intergrated, and better able to function together as whole. Your looking for "restful alertness." The TM technique develops the total brain, increasing creativity, intelligence, and improving decision making and problem solving abilities. TM also has other health advantages too. TM reduces high blood pressure, hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke, and atherosclerosis. Also, Tm is not a "belief" or a life changing practices, such as church.

I have tried using Tm and i have found it did relax me and settled my mind and relaxed my thought process, kinda like taking a small break out of any busy day. After my 20 minutes, which seemed a lot longer, I felt refreshed and had a little more energy. I also felt as if I was more productive the rest of the day and with a more energy. My body felt more relaxed after I the first week of doing TM twice a day and  mentally I felt better after the second week. I'm sure everyone is a little different. So go onto the web and type in Transcendental Meditation and look for the many links and check it out. It does take a little time to get the hang of it and I too am still trying to achieve this goal of the full practice of TM.
